ATP 500 and 250. The men’s season continues with new tournaments.

Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships, Tokyo, ATP 500, Japan

American Ben Shelton confirms the interesting end of the season winning the final in 1.22 H vs Aslan Karatsev 7/5, 6/1.

For Shelton a clinical match ended, in the opening set, at the right time with the only break point obtained. Second set dominated. Aslan returns to the final but, he is still not the same tennis player as few seasons ago.

Ben Shelton, Shelton’s dynasty, is the new one for moments that matter. He lost but also won when the sets became long towards and during the tie-breaks. In 2024 he will be able to improve further highlighting talent and strength. There are still tournaments left at the end of the season and then Oceania will be waiting for him.

In doubles Purcell – Hijikata 6/4, 6/1 vs Venus – Murray in 1.12 H.

BNP Paribas Nordic Open, Stockholm, ATP 250, Sweden

In the north, Gael Monfils and his family returned to victory in a match that ended at the deciding set. Splendid physical condition and tennis game rediscovered within the tournament. Qualifiers Pavel Kotov, at 24 years old, attempted to win playing the final at his best.

In 2.37 H Gael Monfils comes back from a set down and wins 4/6, 7/6 (6), 6/3 vs Pavel Kotov. The tie break has been decisive in a hotly contested second set.

In doubles Golubev – Molchanov 7/6 (8), 6/2 vs Bhambri – Cash in 1.37 H.

European Open, Antwerp, ATP 250, Belgium

A cold Alexander Bublik closes the final against Arthur Fils with a double 6/4, 6/4 in 1.15 H.

Bublik with 100% in the first set and 50% of break points won against 0% of Fils, even if in the second he tried to go to the deciding set, wins in a clinical way.

In doubles the Tsisipas Family (Stefanos, Petros) wins at the third set (5) 6/7, 6/4, 10/8 vs Behar – Pavlasek in 1.35 H. Partial satisfaction for Stefanos although his potential is still unexpressed. Taking the format of a comment from a tennis player to her colleague few seasons ago, Stefanos has Paula: you can’t always have everything.

Now two ATP 500s in Basel and Vienna. In the latter, who will eat the most carrots? Already in the first round an early final as the appetizer of the week.
