Balmain La vie en fleur

by Alain Chivilò

Flowers, roses and a pois are the main arguments to show for the Women in the Balmain’s Spring Summer 2024 Collection.

With the iconic Eiffel Tower looking up 54 dresses went on the catwalk.

As agreed with an artist, what beauty is there in combining, donating, comparing a flower to a woman? A very popular topic in the collections of recent months and Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, in the long-haired version, provides his personal feel to the theme.

The collection is lively, brightly colored, varied and articulated. The rose and flowers as a print, or as artisanal embroidery are the well-harmonized fil rouge without becoming too obsessive.

A palette from green to orange, from red to pink, from blue to black. The latter as a base to bring out precious floral prints and the same goes for white too. Evident buttoning on jackets and suits in black for gala or important moments.

A pois pattern for a Fifties reference but also matchings below knee skirts, corsets, knitwear, long dresses for an electric explosion. Very precious workmanship to be discovered in the details of every single look.

The suggestion of the Eiffel Tower clashes again with Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain. The curtain of some models on stage with the audience crowded outside the show has been nice. The collection provides sympathy, electricity and life which is very good these days.
