Bonjour Miss Dior

by Alain Chivilò

Bonjour Miss Dior, Mademoiselle Dior. Comment ça va?

It could be a commonplace phrase for men after seeing the Dior collection, Winter 2024 – 2025, proposed by Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri at the Paris Fashion Week at Jardin des Tuileries.

Women in Dior could say: are you really interested in me? Yes or not, according to your taste, please men wait a little bit.

The intro is in a subtle game but, Maria Grazia Chiuri and her looks poses deep concepts pointing out a sense of determination and easy to wear for a global femininity. A sense of multiple battles, as the choreography implies, according to the artist from India Shakuntala Kulkarni through women who are never defeated but who are always ready not to give up.

Having a Heritage to start from, is very important and Christian Dior is the designer who will never leave his successors alone for the next centuries. It was September 1967 when the Miss Dior prêt-à-porter line, conceived to dress all women, “from head to foot”, was released.

Easy to wear, fresh, youthful, captivating, sensual, new, creative but also a little masculine as in 1967 but also today for the Fall Winter 2024 – 2025.

The palette is varied and moves in different declinations between black, white, neon green, reds orange, browns, pink, blues but above all tones adapted to make-up. The color combinations are very vital and alive.

72 looks. A view between the late sixties and early seventies. A hat, a beret, a scarf to complement the dress, a long string necklace with a pearl, earrings that don’t stand out too much but give tone and presence.

The Miss Dior writing is highlighted, but in the individual looks it is possible to choose the intensity and visibility. Choice pieces are in double cashmere, as well as in gabardine, including coats, little dresses, jackets, pants and skirts cut above the knee. A white shirt remains partially unbuttoned due to that interest in not seeing which perhaps creates greater atmosphere.

The tartan motif enriches various dresses from a simpler and more direct structure to a more structured one without falling back into what has already been seen.

Feminine but also masculine shapes for a Miss Dior who is a city girl but also a tourist, for leisure and business. The collection presents an elegant woman, lively in style, but always present. Maria Grazia Chiuri in a minimalist but, captivating chic, invites women to be full Dior.
