Gardena Valley, Val Gardena 2023. Downhill, Super G, Downhill. Finally also the men on the slopes for the first weekend on the Italian snow.

14/12/2023, downhill: Bryce Bennett 1.23.80, +0.03 Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, +0.05 Marco Odermatt

15/12/2023, super g: Vincent Kriechmayr 1.28.39, + 0.02 Daniel Hemetsberger, + 0.03 Marco Odermatt

16/12/2023, downhill: Dominik Paris 1.59.84, +0.44 Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, +0.60 Bryce Bennett

Very balanced and tough races with two podiums within 0.05 and 0.03

The three recurring names, with at least two podiums, are: Bryce Bennett, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Marco Odermatt.

Vincent Kriechmayr and Dominik Paris were the two victories that changed the status quo.

In the downhill, Dominik Paris, winning, brought the Italian flag to the top step of the podium after twenty-two years. Strong and awesome performance. It was 2001 when Cristian Ghedina triumphed. Thinking back, how these years have flown by.

If the first downhill and the super-g were balanced races, on the smallest detail of difference, with the surprise of Bennett and Hemetsberger not being predictable, the last downhill was won by Paris in the central part (from sectors 2 to 4), tracing effective lines, in a very convincing way.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Marco Odermatt will be the two main athletes for the overall crystal globe and downhill, super g cups. Their colleagues won’t just watch.

This year too, as in its tradition, Val Gardena 2023 in Italy has turned on the men’s ski world cup.
