Technical materials, a glamorous and fashionable trend, precious fabrics, technical fabrics, functionality, elegance but above all performance in every outfit and combination. These are the main features of the Coco Neige 2023/24 collection designed by Virginie Viard for Chanel.
The link with Winter and a sporting discipline, ice skating, becomes strong and a stimulus for many dresses with an elegant and tight silhouette.
Entering on a technical level into the suits as per presentation: from leggings and jumpsuits in stretch jersey or star-studded wool to satin outfits belted with rhinestone double Cs, outfit da training, con giacca e pantaloni in delicato jacquard di seta. Water-repellent, waterproof and windproof, with quilted padding for added warmth, technical satin appears as parkas and sleeveless jackets in black or festive shades of pink. Stretch jersey, coated and lined with fleece, is used for jumpsuits, fine polo-neck sweaters, jackets and trousers, all slightly iridescent. Lightweight, they can be worn alone or layered in sub-zero temperatures. Starting from the world of skiing, a sleeve pocket for ski passes, trousers with ankle zips and jackets with removable hoods. For the ultimate touch of sophistication, buttons, zips and other metal details are embossed and rhinestoned. House codes are omnipresent with quilting, the double C and the chain, as well as the two-tone black and white, punctuated with touches of navy blue, beige and fuchsia pink. Reversible jackets (with or without sleeves) in leather and shearling are worn with matching miniskirts, whose contrasting details are reminiscent of the CHANEL suit braiding. Revisited for après-ski, the CHANEL jacket also comes in sequinned tweed lined with jersey. A baroque costume jewellery motif has a vintage vibe: the sun, brooches and pearls feature all-over on quilted velvet jackets. For the first time, loungewear silhouettes and denim complete the COCO NEIGE collection. Diamond quilting is reinterpreted as woven braid on cashmere pieces in the softest of beige, ecru and navy blue. Loose-fitting trousers, sweaters and comfortable cardigans can be worn by the fireside or out on the town, with straight-cut jeans dotted with laser-printed double Cs, or 70s-cut jeans embellished with the leather-interlaced chain.
French American actress and model Lily-Rose Depp has been selected to be the new face for the Coco Neige 2023/24 campaign by Chanel. Swedish photographer Mikael Jansson combined an ice skating setting with the collection’s clothes divided in sporty, aggressive and casual looks. Technical dresses shared between outdoor moments on ski slopes, walking and dancing. From day to night with Coco Neige dresses.
About the campaign and her experience, Lily-Rose Depp said: “When I heard that we were going to be shooting at an ice-skating rink, I couldn’t help but think of Ice Princess, this movie I used to watch all the time when I was a little girl and I’d think, I want to be an ice skater too! I never quite pursued the dream, but I loved that movie. The best part of the shoot was getting to explore the collection in such a fun space and getting on the skates. Even if I’m not the best ice skater in the world, it was really fun. I love how Virginie Viard always reinvents the codes of CHANEL, but in different ways. Like the chain pattern on my sweater or a really cute little skirt that has a gold chain motif reminiscent of the jewelled belts and the costume jewellery. I love the way we get so attached to these patterns and we associate them with CHANEL, they’re so timeless and iconic”.
The collection is ready to buy and wear from the 15th Of October 2023.
