The advertising campaign for the Maison Dior, women’s Fall and Winter 2023-24 collection, is launched. After the exciting presentation in India, which highlighted how the nation, between craftsmanship, professionalism, fabrics, precious metals and stones, is an important global reference point, classy inspirations are exalted for those who appreciate beauty, without ever being too redundant.
In the sequence of shots conceived by the Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen (Amsterdam 5/7/1972), the spirit of India shines through in architecture, landscapes, clothes and models for a dreamlike but at the same time real world. Half-light, light and shadow for phases and daily moments to be lived in simplicity, connected with the contemplation of the surrounding nature. In the heart of the city of Udaipur, the jewel of Rajasthan, the looks are staged in a dreamlike decor, reflecting the sumptuous beauty of the local palaces and temples.
The vocabulary of traditional Indian dress is expressed through a series of outfits in shimmering shades of silk, while long monochrome tunics distinguished by minimalist lines exalt the graphic purity of black and white. Elements of Indian landscape and imagery are evoked by bold prints that are transformed into precious embroidery embellishing dresses, tops and the iconic Dior Book Tote bag, conveying Maria Grazia Chiuri’s fascination with these exceptional techniques and such a wealth of textile traditions. A captivating odyssey, perpetuating the passionate ties forged by the House of Dior, its first show in 1947, with this fascinating country, an endless source of inspiration.
