Dior La Cigale

by Alain Chivilò

The Haute Couture Collection of Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, Spring Summer 2024, is harmonized in 59 dresses. Clothes that must like, make the people wearing feel good and possible to be synergistic with a total beauty in tune with those who will acquire, without ever entering into the concept of cute, less cute.

The heritage of the fashion house is always a point of reference and La Cigale dress (Christian Dior collection, Autumn-Winter, 1952) is the main factor that drives the conception of the collection. A summer sound that does not disturb and lets us live the season days with vitality.

Big Aura as a sort of sacredness in fashion therefore, connected to something mysterious, creative, intimate, but always tending towards something that can truly unite and not play vacuously.

In the vision of the clothes, very accurate in the à pois and floral motif through elegant variations that are never cloying. Even the prints (birds) are refined like all the handcrafted embroidery and applications. Airiness and substance as in the suits with shades of gray for a chic business class.

Collar with double string of pearls with or without pendant, earrings also asymmetrical in the shape of the lobes, long necklaces.

Cotton and silk among the materials for a visible airiness in different dresses, colors in green, yellow, black, grey, a captivating shade of dark red, wine, white and gold.

The Big Aura installation by the Italian artist Isabella Ducrot, known for her refined creations that combine the noble fabric with drawing and painting, five meters of clothes for a total of twenty-five, placed in a grid, acted as the scenography to the presentation.

Dior’s Haute Couture, conceived by Maria Grazia Chiuri, for the Women’s Spring Summer 2024 collection always continues at interesting levels, combining an apparent essential with high style, but above all it is synergistic with contemporaneity difficult to explain and multiple facets.
