Novak, Anna and Iga.
Rolex Paris Master, ATP 1000.
When Novak Djokovic decides to participate in a tournament, he almost always manages to continue until the last day, trying to win the Final.
For the opponents who have to face him, there are always serious tennis troubles.
Throughout the week in Paris, Serbian Nole expressed an impressive level of play, always present in difficult moments, cold and clinical, shots converted and delivered in the right and hot moments of the match. Few possibilities left to his opponents.
Grigor Dimitrov demonstrated a new tennis condition. After the US Open, in the various tournaments between Asia and Europe: Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and now a Final. Consistency of performance and intensity in the game rediscovered. He missed the victory but, he expressed quality tennis for more than a month and a half.
Novak Djokovic 6/4, 6/3 in 1.38 H vs Grigor Dimitrov.
In the Final Dimitrov did not score any break points, while Djokovic 3/4. Unforced errors 16 for Grigor, 4 for Nole. Almost a one-sided game.
Novak Djokovic is a candidate for another trophy at the ATP Turin Finals, or in any case to reach the last two days of the tournament. It will not be easy. Jannik Sinner will do everything to win as an Italian at the Finals in Italy, even if there are still a couple of editions left.
Dow Tennis Classic, Midland, WTA 125
First WTA125 for Anna Kalinskaia.
Anna Kalinskaya 7/5, 6/4 in 1.28 H vs Jana Fett
Very hard and tough final with breaks and breaks back. Fett had multiple opportunities to get forward but, Kalinskaya was able to save. As a statistical data 9/16 for Anna, 7/19 for Jana as break points converted. The Russian’s experience even in tournaments with better ranked players was useful against a combative Croatian.
WTA Finals, Cancun, Mexico
From Poland Iga Swiatek signs the WTA Finals winning 6/1, 6/0 in 0.59 minutes vs American Jessica Pegula.
Jessica Pegula started well but after, suffered two breaks shortly and in 23 minutes was 1-5 down. How is it possible? In a certain sense it is like life, where some situations cannot be explained in their dynamics and solutions can no longer be found, at least for a period. A clinical 2/2 in the conversion of break points brings Iga Swiatek 1-0. She, without batting an eyelid, continues her impressive tennis action. Errors reduced to almost zero, strength and depth in almost every shot. Always winning geometric tennis textures. Second set, immediate break: Iga’s advantages: 2-0 in an instant. Another break and then immediately 4-0. Another break and then 6-0.
Merciless score for Jessica Pegula, who played an extraordinary tournament, annihilated by TI, Terminator Iga in a maximum and incredible total form and condition. In one way she reminds me another champion from past decades, Steffi Graf but, it still takes time. Number one.
For ATP Finals see you in the semifinals or finals. For WTA see you in 2024.
