Soelden for Lara Federica Petra

by Alain Chivilò

Solden in Austria opens the ski season for the 2023-24 World Cup. After many months we are back to talking about alpine skiing for this premiere.

Women’s Giant Slalom.

The first run was very hard fought with athletes very close and aiming for the first three places. Second run with more pressure, maintaining balance. The winner, from fourth in the first and third career victory in Soelden, is Lara Gut-Behrami with an attacking ski, +0.02 Federica Brignone leading in first and +0.14 Petra Vlhova who retained the lowest step of the podium. Sofia Goggia 16th, Sara Hector 4th from 2nd, Mikaela Shiffrin 6th, Marta Bassino 5th from 7th.

The forces on the course appear to be those of recent seasons. This is the beginning and everything will have its time.

On podium: 1. Lara Gut-Behrami, 2. Federica Brignone, 3. Petra Vlhova.
