WTA Brisbane Auckland ATP Brisbane Hong Kong United Cup

The 2024 Tennis Season has begun. Confirmations rather than doubts. Wins, defeats but we still saw continuity from last year. A few months do not change, but now 11 new ones begin.

United Cup, Australia, Perth, Sydney. Poland, which seemed to have been created by Pol Robotics for the final victory, unexpectedly surrenders against Germany: 2-1. Iga Swiatek has proven to be there and to continue that Terminator approach, very similar to Steffi Graf, seen in Cancun. The super favorite among women at the AO. Hubert Hurkacz is improving although he lost an almost fundamental match. Angelique Kerber, after a year spent not much in charge, presented herself with her trademark fighter style. Alexander Zverev has proven his true worth to be exhibited at the AO soon. Germany 2 – Poland 1.

Brisbane International presented by Evie

WTA 500. Everything as it was possible to predict. Seeded no. 1 vs 2: Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina.

In 1.13 h Elena Rybakina wins 6/0, 6/3. Opening set with Aryna not quite on the final. Balanced second set, but a break by Rybakina makes the difference. Quick and less tough match than expected. It could be a Semifinal or a Final at the next Australian Open.

Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina are two emotional athletes, although very often it doesn’t seem like this during the play on court. Two protagonists of tennis today and tomorrow. Of note is the return of Naomi Osaka.

ATP 250. Also in the men’s category the top two seeds meet in the final. Grigor Dimitrov, after being very close last year, starts with a 7/6 (5), 6/4 win vs Holger Rune also in a good finish last season. Great balance in 2.11 hours with Dimitrov more present and clinical to close without being surprised.

Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open

ATP 250. Andrey Rublev, after losing some victories last year, wins 6/4, 6/4 vs Emil Ruusuvuori in 1.18 h. Two break points of seven converted were enough for Rublev for the victory.

ASB Classic. Auckland

WTA 250. In 2.35 h, in a spectacular final Coco Gauff down one set wins in the decisive set against Elina Svitolina (4) 6/7, 6/3, 6/3.

The two seeds 1 and 2 also meet in this final. Svitolina appears well tested, while Cori wastes no time and returns to victory in a convincing way, thinking about the last days of the second week at the AO.

Two ATP 250 and WTA 500, 250 before the Australian Open 2024. The first round of the Slam’s season will be a balanced fight. I would never take anything for granted. Among the Women: Swiatek, Sabalenka, Rybakina, Gauff, Pegula without forgetting some outsiders. Among the Men: Djokovic, Medvedev, Sinner, Zverev, Nadal, without forgetting some outsiders to. Happy Tennis 2024.
