WTA Finals Cancun Day 7

GNP Seguros, WTA Finals, Cancun, Mexico, 2023.

Rain dominates the final days of tennis in Cancun. Seventh day of the tournament very difficult, with long waits and changes in the scheduling of the matches. Only one is completed, while two remain open to date. Probable finals on Monday to allow for proper rest. On a personal note, it would be better to send the athletes to the locker room, without contact with coaches and externals according to the rules, rather than leaving them on the bench with a towel and their thoughts. They deserve a little privacy.

American Jessica Pegula walked to the Final.

Jessica Pegula 6/2, 6/1 vs Coco Gauff in 1.03 H.

Strong start from Pegula with a break. Gauff seems to immediately feel the pressure and tries to react with a break back. Jessica continues her much more effective game. Coco begins to lose track of her. Interruptions due to rain. The second set is a monologue signed by Jessica Pegula with 3/5 as break points and 0/1 for Cori.

Jessica Pegula gets a deserved final as the express tennis during the week. Coco Gauff 19 years old, although it is several years in WTA. This year she makes an interesting and quality season. Her skills are always present.

To be continued: Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Swiatek 1-2

To be continued: Gauff / Pegula vs Siegemund / Zvonareva 6-3, 1-1
